1997 bmwti. Do I need any special tools to replace the front/rear rotors and pads?

Souldn't...sometimes you will see at the caliper mounting area, a thin metal bar, it is peened over to lock the bolts in place, use a hammer and chisel to unbend and flatten it, then use your 17mm socket to remove!
