The bearing in the clutch of the air conditioning compressor is very rough. It doesnt make any noise when the compressor is on but is very loud when the compresor is off. I'm being told to replace the bearing will require removing the compressor from the car. By the time you do that they are saying to go ahead and install a new compressor. I have replaced this bearing on older york compressors and it wasnt that big a deal. Is there a way to remove the pulley and replace the bearing without having to reomove the whole compressor. I could buy several expensive specialty tools to remove the pulley for what it will cost to remove and replace the compressor. Anuy suggestions?

You should be able to replace the clutch quite easily without removing the compressor as there is lots of room to work in there, it will require a puller however. This can be sourced out of an A/C supplier.
