As I tighten down draw down bolts water pump will not seat. Grease applied to O ring and at 1/4 turn per bolt I have snapped off one bolt hole on new Bosh pump. Even if 3 bolts will not hold the new pump on, which is my next goal. I will not buy a new pump unless I can install this one. There is no place to safely apply leverage and if the bolts do not draw it in without damage then what.

Hi there,
Thank you for the donation,

I have added the text from our data base on water pump removal and re fitting. I feel that you should fit a new pump as it will be far cheaper to do this now rather than run the risk of it developing a leak because of the damaged incurred while fitting it. Our resident BMW specialist may pick up on this and add his advice as well.

Thank you Mark, your advice is just what I would have given. There must be a reason the pump wont go in, usually they dont have any problem at all. Is there something in the hole that you have not extracted yet like the broken impeller?

Nothing in opening, pump fits great without O ring
Cannot seat with new O ring and only 3 of 4 bolt holes to attach with. I have used the old O ring and seated the pump with no grease. Still yet to try water. Waiting till tonight, baring rain, to add a new thermostat and gasket before seeing if an old ring and 3 bolt system will work at running pressure and vibration---- nothing to lose but time.
Thanks to all but we may never find the chinese O ring problem I think it may be just a hair too big, at least that is the only thing left, the old one is a lot flatter (compressed).
