1994 BMW 318 check engine light

Im having a miss thats pretty rough the check engine light comes on when u drive it for about 30 min but does not stay on all the time how can I check this code

It probably hasn't set a fault, the systems in 1994 did not have the level of sophistication to report the individual issues that get reported to memory, since they didn't have to. What have you done so far? Did you try to fix it yet or are you just searching for something?

Right now I have not tried I did find a pretty good size header gasket leak, I was told mass air flow sensor but I thought the engine light would stay on all the time

An ignition misfire can be seen on a scope, do you have any diagnostic tools?
