1993 BMW 318 Anti-theft device?

I recently had my car worked on, and when I got it back, the radio no longer would work or play tapes. However, the stereo comes on. Any idea what may be going on?

It requires a code to operate. There is a serial# on the back of the radio, retrieve that code and go to the BMW dealer for the code. Take proof of ownership with you.
