my b.m had a noise coming from the top of the engine so we opened and found the cam shaft was damaged and also the rocker arms where damaged we installed new parts and timed right the engine now does not compliantly rev and the engine also backfires from the mend ford.

Recheck all your work, it seems from here the cams did not get timed correctly or there is a vacuum leak.
