Blowing fuse 24 over and over

I believe the issue to be the interlock system going bad and causing the fuse to blow. But I don’t know if that is the case. I cannot shift out of gear and my brake lights go out whenever I blow the fuse. So i cannot legally drive on the road. I would like to replace and solve the problem on my own. But cannot necessarily do that myself without knowing anything else further.

Good evening,

I would disconnect the wiring from the stop light switch and see if the fuse still fails.

I attached a diagram of the fuse and what it controls.

1. Remove the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch.
1 Disconnect the electrical connector.
2 Rotate clockwise and remove the BPP switch.

Yes it still blows the fuse.

I also tried disconnecting the wire to the gear shift and it also blew the fuse.

So I think it may be the transmission position sensor.

Okay, if you disconnected the switch and the fuse still fails, the harness from the fuse to the brake switch is shorted somewhere.

Someone needs to check the harness for damage.

Why would the fuse still blow if no power is going through the brake switch when it’s unplugged?

Because there is a short in harness before it reaches the switch.

Between the fuse and the switch, there is a wiring issue that is causing the power wire to be grounded against another wire causing the fuse to fail.

Hello Roy, so there isn’t anything visible that I can see. But I did see this connector I do not know what exactly it is supposed to do, I have a hunch that it’s to the cruise control. But do not know for sure. Any idea off the top of your head?

It is not on the circuit. If the fuse still fails then the harness is shorted somewhere between the fuse block and the stop light switch.
