Temperature jumped from 210 to 240

Then check gauge light came on. pulled over check for overheating no boil over had air on turned off. thought it was thermostat, replace but still issue. happens more when turn on. air temperature been running from 210 to 245, but no boil over. checked for leaks none found.

I have a few questions. First, does the temperature rise when you are driving at highway speed or is it limited to stop and go traffic? When you say it doesn't boil over, do you feel the engine isn't as hot as what the gauges is indicating? When you changed the thermostat, by chance did you flush the radiator? Are there any leaks? Is the radiator cap old? Is there any noticeable coolant consumption?

Sorry for all the questions. So many different things can cause this to happen. If it is running hot at highway speeds and you have already replaced the thermostat, I would recommend flushing the system. Here is a link that explains how it is done:
