Binding transfer case

Is there a fuse to rove to see if the binding is drom ot? Or remove the hLf shDt?

I changed the fluid still binding. Is it possible to remove the front shaft on the transfer case to eliminate whether its the case ir something else or would the car mot drive?

Hi:

If the vehicle is AWD, it should move. However, I don't recommend driving it that way. That can lead to other issues with the system.

Let me know what condition the fluid was in when you changed it. Also, let me know when you feel the binding the most. For example, is it on turns only?

Fluid was dark but made no difference. Binding on turns say while in driveway and the hesitation while driving low speeds. Had bmws that way and it was the transfer case but not sure how the front shaft can be removed as these have no bolts. Can you see how it can be removed?

Hi:

The front drive shaft (cardan shaft) is much like a CV axle. A circlip is what holds it in place at the front differential. You pry it off. The circlip should be replaced if you remove it.

Looks like its the shaft pin the passenger side coming out of the transfer case that I need to remove but the driveshaft is also connected to rear of it, so if binding occurs its usually in the front diff or transfer case? On bmws I think its usually in front diff

That is correct. Binding will likely occur in the front differential.

No way its coming out without something removed, I tried both sides with a pry bar nothing moved a mm. If I remove it no fluid should come out from diff or transfer case right? What if I remove the front axle instesd?

Drained fluid from front diff and added lucas gear oil. First time ever that I change oil or gear oil in my life and it makes a difference, finally something worked.
