Hello,
I would very much appreciate if you can please tell me how to diagnose which part(s) are bent on a 2009 VW Jetta with a Macpherson suspension. The following may help:
-one passenger front tire has outer wear.
-it has positive camber and a lower (but still positive caster)
-the SAI is lower by ~ 0.2
Some comparative measurements were taken:
-the strut was measured just above the steering knuckle; it was at about the same position as the driver side.
-the strut was measured just below the spring assembly; it moved by 2.3 cm outward towards the side of the car, but not towards the front or rear.
-the steering knuckle was measured where the tie rod connects; it moved towards the car rear only by 3.6 cm.
-the center of the wheel was measured; it moved towards the car rear by 3.3cm.
-the left and right bolts that are on the control arm that hold the ball joint bottom were each measured; they moved towards the car rear by ~ 2cm and outwards towards the car side by 1.4 cm.
The car does not pull to either side. It was driven at low speeds and short distances since the outer wear started, and now the tire has tilted outward at the front while the back of the same tire is in the well.
Should you require any further information, please let me know. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
With thanks,
Suzana
