The power steering is tough sometimes, and I have belt squeal when I turn to full lock and when I start it in the morning. While watching the pulleys, when the car is at full lock the belt for the power steering pump stops spinning. The belt is new and just replaced the pump and fluid. The tension on the pump belt is right. The alternator was tested and is fine, the drive belt keeps moving the serp belt for the water pump and alternator, but the water pump pulley stops spinning. I've had no over heating, or loss of engine coolant. No bearing sounds. Have a slight groaning sound while turning wheel sometimes, but that's the only noise besides the belt sliding over the water pump pulley. Any ideas?

If the blet was replaced and you have an auto tensioner that shold have been replaced as well. Try using a belt tension gauge on p/s belt it may seem tight but not actually be the gauge will show how tight to make it. Also if oil is on belt then throw it away clean the pulley sof oil/grease and put another one on.

The power steering belt is loose and worn. When the wheel is turned either way it squeals and seems to slip or jerk. How do I change this belt? Thank you.

You will have to remove a/c belt first then generator belt see pics. Then look for an adjuster for the power steering as that is the one you want to change. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I bought this car and it needs a timing belt. I have replaced the water pump and I am currently trying to put everything back together. The tensioner pulley was off the car when I got it and I am not sure how to put the spring back on.

I posted a diagram it goes from the hole on the arm of the tenisor to most likely the other side of the spring goes to a pin sticking up that is screwed into the engine. If you could post a pic that would be great.

The only pin I see is the one coming out of the body of the water pump.

The pin in the picture doesnt have a groove, but I found the right pin. Does the spring go on before or after I put the timing belt on?

I would just put the spring on and leave it on then repalce the belt. Glad to hear you got it all figured out If the spring makes the tenisor get in the way I pull the tenisor pulley out of the way and use the nut or bolt on the tenisor pulley to hold it in palce.

Need to replace broken alternator belt. Started to remove power steering belt first. Loosened tensioner completely but belt is still tight. Do I need to loosen the bolt behind the power steering pump pulley? When I get that belt off, will I have any steps on the alternator besides the tensioner? Thanks in advance.

That is correct. I attached the first attachment which shows the mounting bolt that you need to loosen and should be able to slip the belt off.

The next couple attachments show how to reinstall the new belt. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
