Beeping when turning off engine?

Twice, in the past few weeks, when I shut off my engine and take the key out the car beeps like it would had I left the headlights on. If I take it out of park and put it back again, it's fine. It's really hot here in S. Nevada and I believe both times it happened I had driven home after my car was out in the sun for a few hours.

To me it sounds like the ignition switch is worn out, this will cause the beeping like you left the key in the switch. If it only does it in the hot weather I would not worry about it. The only thing I would look at is to make sure the car is not overheating which may cause the chime as well.
