Yep, this is the new car way, when the battery is disconnected here is what they say:

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during the battery removal/installation are shown below.

This is why we did this video to show you how to change the battery without a disconnection problem:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCpHCzDjl_w&t=3s

You can try running the codes with a CAN scanner and then clearing them to see if that helps, but you may need to have a shop reload the operation program. Let me know which codes they are, and I can see where to go from there. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here are the instructions on how to replace the battery correctly. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Check engine fail, codes P0301(cylinder1 misfire detected) P0300 Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. P0302, P0303, P0304, P1055 (Valvematic angle Difference. (ECU) P10A0 (Valvematic angle Difference (CSS). P2646 A rocker arm actuator system performance/ stuck off bank one. P265B B rocker arm actuator position sensor circuit range/performance Bank 1 . My college electrical engineer son recommended disconnecting the battery ground for extended period (20 minutes) to hopefully reset the computer. Car still hesitates when gas pedal is increased, and engine shuts down occasionally. Drove it in slow acceleration to AutoZone to have this computer analysis done. All help is appreciated. Greg Sr

No problem, that is a good idea. I would try to unplug the battery for longer say 24 hours or you can try a hard system reboot, here is a guide to show you:

Please let me know what happens, I am interested.
