Battery light on

Good evening.

You need to get a voltmeter to test both the battery voltage and the charging voltage.

You need 12.4 to 12.6 volts on the battery and the charging rate should be 14 to 14.5 volts.

AutoZone checked battery and is fine.

Okay, what were the results and what was the charge rate at the battery? They should have given you a print out.

If the light is on, it is from either a failed alternator or low battery voltage.

I put in a new alternator, charge battery which he did a test and it was fine, but the light turns on and off. He said it is probably wiring or something electrical.

First, they are parts salesman not technicians. That is why I keep asking for the results.

Do you have a voltmeter? I would like to see the actual readings to give you help and not guess which is what they did at the parts store at your expense.

There are only two connections on the alternator. The one for the big wire from the battery and the one connector. Make sure they are clean and tight.

Hi, I checked the alternator made sure it had no dust and wiring is good. Went for a ride the battery light did not go on until went shopping turn it off and when I was riding it turn on then off.

Okay, and the voltage readings I asked for?
