Battery light is staying on

Had a new alternator put in yesterday and now the battery light is staying on. when we put the headlights on they go bright then dim, plus the air bag light has come on the dashboard.

check battery for condition including load test most places do for free. make sure terminal ends are clean and no corrosion. then have belt professionally checked and tension-er, recommended replacement is 60,000 for both.

Check the "new" alternators connections and its output when all accessories are on. Also, double check that the correct alternator was installed.
