I have the vehicle listed above that has been sitting for 18 months. I tried ordering different scanners to try and figure out what is wrong. The first one was a Topdon ArtiDiag500 unit, the second one was a LAUNCH X431 CRP919E. I thought I needed the second one so I could order a PCM module and would use it to program the PCU. The module is ordered from eBay and supposed to come in Monday (09/16/24).
Any thoughts on connecting the scanner up to the DNC connector. I also order a 12 volts charger connector. I’m using it ever time when I try. Every time I plugged the scanner up the voltage has had a problem.
I sent an email in yesterday about the scanner power connector, where does the DNC get its power.
Haven’t heard anything back yet.

So is the problem that the scanner is not working, or the battery is draining down? These are separate issues, and we only handle one problem per thread. I will edit this post to deal with the data port connection power. Please start a new question of the battery drain. Please go over this video:

Here is a wiring diagram for the ALDL connector and the grounds and fuse it uses to power the scanner up which is fuse #16 10 amp in the fuse panel under the hood.

Here is the location of the fuse as well. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

(1) Ken the battery is a new one, it’s about three months old. I have a battery jumper tie to the battery anyway. When the car sits by it self, something is pulling the battery down. I have to cut the power off the car when I’m thru working on it. Thank for the copy of the F16 connector schematic.
(2) Problem repairs: The key switch battery is dead, replaced it with a new battery and my problem fixed itself. I wish I would have checked my key before order the lunch scanner.
At least I have a new scanner to walk me through any other faults. I did pump up three low tires that was low.

Please start a new question for the battery drain issue. Did you check the fuses and ground I motioned above? Does the scanner work now or?

Yes Ken, the scanner is working good. We hadn’t drove it yet, I got to get some more insurance and a tag. Thank for everything. This is a great site for repairs.

Ken, I don’t know, maybe it was working all along. After I got the key battery replaced the scanner started working. I really like that scanner, it checked a lot of different events.
See you later, Gerald Sylvester
