If the battery is weak enough, often, a jump start won't work simply of the loss of voltage through the cables. Also, if there are loose battery terminals or corrosion at the battery cables, that can cause the same results.

Here is what I recommend. If the battery terminals are both clean and tight, I would remove the battery, take it to a nationally recognized parts store, have them charge it, and then load-test it. Most will do this free of charge.
If it checks good, reinstall the battery in the vehicle and see if it will start. If you still only hear a click, confirm the click is from the starter motor. If that is the case, we need to suspect the starter is a possible issue.
