Then I recommend you do a voltage drop test with a digital volt meter. With the meter take the positive lead and touch the positive battery cable terminal. The ground lead touch the alternator positive terminal. Good cable will read somewhere around 0.2 volts more or less as long as it is under 1 volt. Do the same with the ground cable. Take the positive lead on the meter and touch the ground cable at the terminal lead at the cable and touch the alternator housing with the negative lead on the meter and you should measure the same.
