Car was dead and immediately started with a jump. Let it run for thirty minutes, shut it off and tried to restart and battery dead. Is this a battery issue or alternator? Car runs and drives after jump start.

Hello,

It could be a combination of both. I would lean to the battery being bad, but I have included a few links below for you to go to:

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find.

Thanks,

Welcome to 2CarPros. It could easily be both of them. A bad battery can put a strain on the alternator and cause both to fail. Is the charge/battery light on or the check engine light? The first thing I would do is have the battery and charging system tested. Some of the parts stores will do that for free. That will give you a starting point. If both test good, which is possible then it could be a bad cable or connection to the battery that is causing the problem. However the first thing would be to have the system tested.
