If the battery is dead and the alternator isn't producing a charge, the engine will stall. Since it stalled when the jump vehicle was disconnected, either the battery is too weak to keep it running, the alternator isn't recharging the battery, or you have a bad connection at the battery. Make sure the terminals are clean and tight, too.
