Heard a loud pop and brake pedal dropped to the floor. Was going down hill when it happened. Got the van to stop with lots of force on the brake pedal and had it towed home. While waiting for the tow truck I notice the entire inside of the rim was full of brake fluid. Could it be the master cylinder? Or what is your take on it?

Good morning.

It sounds like either a brake line has failed, brake hose that has failed or a caliper. have someone remove the wheel and inspect for the failure.

No, it does not sound like the master cylinder has failed. You have a fluid leak that caused loss of the brake pedal.
