Backup camera functions

How can I have my backup camera go on automatically when in reverse and manually when not in reverse? In case I'm driving and want to see what's behind me.

Hello PCULQUI,

Is your camera an aftermarket camera or did you ride come with one factory? They don't set them up to be on while driving as to not distract your driving. You most likely would have to mess with the wiring to get it to do what you want.

And chances are it will burn out the camera since it will be on all the time.

Hello,

I doubt it will burn out from being on all the time. It's just set up to only be on during reverse because of being distracted if it's on while driving. I don't suggest modifying it to be on while driving.

It looks like the camera is hard wired into the radio. Here is the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.
