Backfires at idle every twenty seconds

My truck is the k1500 mocel. Sometime it backfires repeatedly. My truck starts up with great with no hesitation. It all started when I was on the highway and I accelerated to go around someone who was doing 30 mph and then it started to run rough, lack of power and backfiring. Please help I need my work truck.
