Is there any way to remove the back seats completely in a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500, or to at least remove the backrest and not the whole seat?

Welcome back to 2CarPros. Seat removal is possible however, which cab design do you have the Mega Cab 4 door or the extended cab 2 door. Removal is different based on the cab type. The extended cab is easier as you flip up the lower seats, then remove the plastic load floor by removing two nuts (item 2 img 1)that secure it and then the 2 bolts (item 3 img 2) and move it out of the way, then remove 3 bolts (1, 3, 5 img 3)from the lower seat frame, lift the rear cushions off the hooks on the back of the cab (img 4) and remove the seat.

For the Mega cab you tip the seats forward, then remove the bolts that hold the filler panels in place (img 5) then remove the bolts and nuts from the floor frames and remove the seat and frame. (Imgs 6 7)
