Driving at 15 mph and above it sounds like a chirping (baby chicks) noise is coming from dash area, sounds more like on passenger side. Sometimes very loud once in awhile disappears all together. Had a person ride with me unfortunately noise was not loud at the time and hard to hear and he said it sounded like two bearings rubbing together that was not lubed. Also when I depress gas pedal when taking off I can hear a flutter then it disappears. These are not normal noises for this truck. Did not have A/C or heater on nor radio during these noises. A/C was worked on last year, do not use as it is too much for engine and clutch was just replaced.

Hello,

This sounds like it could be a belt or a bearing of a pulley of something the belt is driving is going bad. A simple way to see if it is the belt that is starting to fail, is to get a can of belt dressing from your local parts house. Follow the directions on the can. If the chirping goes away, then you now it is the belt. Do this and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Where would this belt be? In the engine? Like the serpentine belt? Or do you think it is something in the dash? I didn't realize there were belts in the dash, are there? I appreciate your answer. Will check all the belts in the engine compartment. Why would it sound like it is coming from dash? Is it a distortion of sound?

Thank you for answering my original question. I sent in another question as to where this belt might be in an early reply to your answer and should have included this: Is it dangerous to keep driving this? Will the belt or bearing failure cause an accident or breakdown? It something like this expensive to fix? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

No, it is not dangerous to keep driving your vehicle like this, but it is something that I would want to get fixed ASAP. If your serpentine belt or a bearing completely fails causing your serpentine belt to fail, I doubt it would cause an accident, but it very well would leave you broke down. A condition like this is relatively inexpensive to fix, but the longer you wait to get it fixed the more expensive the repair can become.

Thanks,
Alex
