Rear axle oil seal is leaking, how do I replace it?

Hi,

driver side axle oil seal is leaking. i would like to know the procedure how to replace it also the weight of gear oil i need to use.

I assume it is the rear axle seal. If so, here is how to change it out and the gear oil needed to complete the repair. FYI you may have an axle bearing that is going out which causes the seal to leak. This video can help because you will need to use a press or have a machine shop do the press work for you. You will need a new seal and axle bearing to complete the job.

Rear Axle - 198RBI (Model 35) * .................... 1.66Liters (3.5 pts.)

Rear Axle - 226 RBA (Model 44) ** .................... 2.24Liters (4.75 pts.)

* With Vari-Lok, add 0.07Liters (2.5 oz.) of Friction Modifier.

** With Trac-lok or Vari-Lok, add 0.07Liters (2.5 oz.) of Friction Modifier.
