The Transmission is an AX4N 4F50N has failed. From reading other posts, (thank you everyone !!) I am confident that the problem is the torque converter spline is stripped, so I understand what is involved with fixing that, just wondering how much I should do and which other parts to change out now while it is only a couple hundred bucks in parts
I am in the process of removing the transmission now. My question is I am looking at rebuild overhaul kits for the transmission, and parts. I would like to go ahead and get the kit and other parts on order.
So there are different levels of kits available. Should I go ahead and replace the bonded pistons, or is that overkill ?
I am thinking to go ahead and replace the friction clutch plates
What other parts would you recommend that I replace while I have the transmission out?
The shift solenoids?
The EPC solenoid ?
The lock up solenoid?
The chain?
The coast band?
The overdrive band?
Anything about the valve body and/or parts in the valve body?
Anything else?
The bands are relatively cheap, but the solenoids start adding up if I replace all of them.
Thanks so much for your advice,
Jeff
