Automatic transmission shifter

The car will not start because the "park" sensor does not think it is in "park or neutral".
Also, the transmission will sometimes pop out of gear from drive while in first gear. I have to come to a complete stop, put the car in park then drive again and then maybe it will work. if not repeat until you have success.

What is the problem? How do I fix it?

first you will need to check for a couple of things; if cable shifted check for a broken/stretched cable and then check for adjustment as well as seeing if it gets to every gear. You will need someone to help. also, check for bolts gone in brackets at transmission and column as well as clips missing. See pictures.
