I was wondering if I can replace the automatic transmission on my 2002 Dodge Neon with a transmission from a 2004 Neon. If so, what would I have to do differently? Anything I need to replace? Will the solenoids need to be replaced? Or would the transmission be an exact replica of my 2002 Neon? Engine size on both vehicles is 2.0L

Check with a junkyard, as long as the electrics hook up you should be good unless it is a 5 or higher speed and yours is only a 4 speed.

I called a junkyard today and the guy kept telling me that everything is the same except for the solenoid. Which really does not make sense since both cars are 2.0L and same speeds.

It depends if the solenoid is not there or it is for something else.
