I took my van in to change my tires over for the winter season. The mechanic snapped the cable on the passenger side sliding door. The service manager said it was going to snap anyways and it just happened to be under their roof when it did. I disagree and believe they should fix it but they are putting up a fight. The warranty ran out around 40,000 miles and is not covered. Should the service department absorb the cost for the replacement part/labor, should I have to, or a split? I had the seven year undercoating applied when I purchased the vehicle from them to protect against rust.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Honestly, I cannot believe it was ready to snap because it is so new. However, I cannot imagine what he could have done to break it. Honestly, I would do one of two things. Ask them to absorb 50% or I would call Honda and complain saying this never should have happened and ask them for assistance. The cable in this should have lasted a lot longer. If the dealer will not help, contact Honda customer assistance.

Let me know if you have other questions.
