Auto headlights always on

Let's start with checking for codes. These Fiat's don't operate like you would normally think things would function so given the code, I am sure we will figure out what the issue is.

Based on the fact that the headlamp doesn't go off, tells me that it is either a circuit issue or an input to the BCM is causing the headlamps to stay on. Do they shut off when the switch is turned off?

Yes, once I turn the car off, the lights go off as well. They stay on when the ignition is on “on” or the engine running. I’ll try to scan the car again and find the code.

I could not find an error code for this issue!
Nothing related to lights pops up. However, I think you are right; there is something going on with the BCM. Now it says "service power steering".

There are no codes?!

What kind of scanner are you using?

OBDLink Mx and I am using the app from the same scanner; no codes related to these issues! even though the "service power steering" light is on, the car drives just fine.

Okay. The fact that the vehicle drives properly then I suspect we have a software issue. Which lead me to look for a TSB and there is one that fits this concern. Unfortunately that means we will need to take this to a dealership so that this software update can be performed.

Thanks for this info. Unfortunately, my car is not under warranty anymore. I’m sure they’ll want to charge me a crazy amount of money to get this done.

Understood. However, updates like this are not very costly. Most dealerships charge a flat fee to have all available flashes performed. I would just call and ask them how much they would charge to get all available flashes done. Then call a couple others and pick the cheapest dealership. There is only one way to do it so the cheapest dealer is the best in this case. They literally just hook the scan tool and perform the updates.

If we can get these done, I would be surprised if it didn't correct the issue.
