I am in the process of replacing the front outer cv joints and have come to a stopping point. Do I have to remove the lower ball joint in order to get access to the cv joint? Or is there more that is involved? I was also wondering about the torque for the axle bolts. It is 90 ft/lb right?

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

Replacement procedures are below for your vehicle's outer CV joints along with the proper torque specifications.

Outer CV-Joint

The outer CV-joint is serviced with the axle halfshaft as an assembly. The outer CV-joint boot may be serviceable by first removing the inner joint.

REMOVAL:

Front

Remove or disconnect the following:
Halfshaft nut
Front wheels
Hex bolt for outer joint of drive axle
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) speed sensor by sliding it partly out of its mount
Halfshaft from the transaxle flange
Press the halfshaft upward toward the front of the vehicle.
Turn the steering to full lock.
Remove the halfshaft.

INSTALLATION:
Install or connect the following:
Halfshaft into the wheel hub
Swing arm bolt. Torque it to 30 ft. Lbs. (40 Nm)
Halfshaft-to-transaxle flange. Torque the bolts to 30 ft. Lbs. (40 Nm) for the M8 bolts and to 57 ft. Lbs. (77 Nm) for the M10 bolts
ABS wheel speed sensor
Sensor cable into the caliper bracket
Front wheels
Tighten the axle bolt as follows:
M14 bolt: 85 ft. Lbs. (115 Nm) plus an additional 1/4 (90 degree) turn
M16 bolt: 140 ft. Lbs. (190 Nm) plus an additional 1/4 (90degree) turn

If you need further assistance just let me know.
