My brake lights won't go off when I shut off the engine. I have removed the fuse that controls them (and all the internal dash lights) and it does not appear to be the fuse. The rear light panel works properly for blinkers and headlights and brakes appear to be fully functional.

Help please? Any ideas where to start?

sounds to me that your brake on/off switch is improperly adjusted. when the brake is depressed the switch is opened causing the lights to come on, so if its bent and its not making the button push when the pedal is up the lights will stay on. same for a bad brake on off switch
