I had the torgue converter replaced and transmission rebuilt approx. 3k miles ago. When I got the car back, the transmission shifts smoothly in all gears except 3rd. The car kicks hard into 3rd gear no matter how much pressure I apply to the gas pedal. The car downshifts through all gears fine. The transmission specialist informed me to drive it for awhile as it may be due to the "adaptive" tranny. As it hasn't improved, I recently had him test drive the car and he explained that he would need to drive it hooked up to his diagnostic computer in order to diagnose the issue. He did this and has still not determined the cause. Thoughts?

Could be a solenoid acting up or possibly a bad seal, or a valve in the valve body that is sticky or hanging up.Keep on them while it is still under warranty, insist that it be fixed. There is no reason for a hard shift unless you are at full throttle

It sounds like an accumulator spring is broken for the 3rd gear servo.
