My wife was running the air conditioning in her 1999 Audi A6 Quattro and smoke began to funnel out of the vents. The smoke smelled like an electrical shortage of some sort. Now, the fan does not work for either the air conditioning or the heater. Could this be a problem with the fan shroud, resistor, control unit, etc...???

Hi
Would think fan motor. Did any fuses blow? Every thing else works? Does AC compressor engage ?
Motor is on passenger side behind glove box. You could check it for power and see if plug is melted. Or pull motor and take a look.
