I have an 1999 Audi A6 1.8 petrol engine code AEB, I am wondering if it is possible to get a diesel engine to fit it??

the 1.9 diesel should bolt up to your transmission... call the dealer to verify... however your going to have to change alot of things doing a gas-diesel conversion... my opinion is dont do it... if your set on diesel, buy a car that came from the factory with it.... trust me, you will save alot of headaches... audis are very tempermental...
