2008 Audi A4

Today, while travelling at about 3mph, I crashed the side of my new Audi A4 into a concrete pole.

This is the damaged side (pic 1)

-- note the plastic thing which got pushed out from its usual holding place by the force of the impact

Compared to the undamaged side (pic 2)

Now, I am not too concerned at all about the cosmetic damage, but was wondering if I could ask any OMNI car gurus out there about any possible safety implications.

We bought the Audi A4 primarily because of the the safety ratings. We're worried that maybe there might be sensitive electronics that might have been located there, or else that rust could form on the inside of the car due to the cracks there, or that the stuctural integrity of the metal may be compromised.

Given that I'm not concerned about cosmetic damage (only concerend about safety), am I making a mountain out of a molehill here, or should I really be worried and get it fixed asap?

Hi some0482,

Thank you for the donation.

From the pictures of the damage, it is nothing to worry about. The area does not have any sensors, which would be further back in and what you have is only cosmetic damages.
