2005 Audi A4 driving status

Engine diagnosed with 1 exhaust cam lobe severely damaged, hole in top of lifter and damage to the intake cam. I was initially alerted by a ticking sound. Obviously this is a huge repair. Is it assumed t hat the car should not be driven at all until repaired?

Hi there,

Thats correct, apart from the rough idle and poor performance all that metal will be doing damage to bearings as proportion of it will be held in suspension in the oil.
