2003 Audi A4 Losing power in second gear

Transmission problem
2003 Audi A4 Manual 91000 miles

I have started to experience loss of power when in second gear. Basically, once it hits 2000 revs the cra slows. If I drop it into neutral and then back into second it speeds up or if i move to third all seems ok. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi boomerloo,

Is the CEL showing?

Did you check the spark plugs?

Is there any misfiring when rpm reaches 2,000?

Nothing showing on the CEL so far and no misfiring either.

New spark plugs only a couple of months back too.

Does engine lose power at 2000 rpm in 1st, 3rd or 4th?

I would suggest checking the EGR and fuel filter.
