have an 1999 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro with auto transmission. Suddenly it will not shift at all when driving and appears to be "stuck" in a high gear. The car runs/ idles fine and revs fine when in N or P. What could be wrong?

Your in fail-safe mode, Need to check for codes. Possible electrical connection problem, component failure, sensor failure. If unable to acces codes, tcm is probably bad.

Was your problem the transmission computer module as well, if so, how did you repair it? Question, where is it located? I would love to hear what you have too say in regards to this problem. Everyone is giving me the run around.
