1998 Audi A4 Help Me

Last night I got my car stuck in a ditch and when the tow truck drivers pulled it out I was worried they might damage he steering because they hooked the winch up to the front rim. Everything seemed fine last night but when I started it up this morning it made a loud humming noise and I took it around the block and the noise comes on and off when I steer, but it stays consistent when I stay still. Please if anyone knows what is wrong please let me know.
