1998 a4 2.8 quattro oil temperature light

my oil temperature ligt goes on, checked oil level and it looks fine, only goes on once in a while, what can it be, im thinking maybe a bad oil temperature sender????

Hi there,

As this is an old post, you may have resolved this by now, but i will offer my opinion anyway. I feel as you do that the oil temp sender may be faulty, before replacing i would make sure that the electrical connection is clean and tight, a fault code scan should give a code for this sensor.
