After driving for about 10 minutes, the brake pedal gets really hard and i can smell burning brake. then there is a shake felt throughout the entire car. pull in and there is smoke coming from the front driver side caliper. then when it finally cools down and i start the car, the brake pedal returns to normal. This has happened twice, last night and tonight.

In the 10 minutes leading up to the problem, there is no excessive braking, just the occasional road end but i slow down using my gears and any braking is kept to the very minimum.

Hi there, if this is just one caliper i would say that it is in need of an over haul as it is sticky and binding up, if both fronts are binding it will be a hydraulic pressure retention problem, have this checked out.
