1999 Audi A3 Dead Battery

I recently had a dead battery. I jump started it. The engine now ticks over but when I try and accelarate i get to 1200 rpm and the rpm drops off to idle again. it then does this over and over.

Check and test the mass airflow and throttle position sensor to include the knock sensor.
