I have an 1987 Audi 5000s Quattro and I have been having troubles with the engine staying cool and found that the coolent needs to be flushed (brownish green in color). How would I go about flushing the system myself, I am working on a budget right now and the cheapest, easiest way would be much appreciated but am willing to do anything to get this car back to running condition.

There is no easy way to flush the radiator and its really not needed or recommended as you can damage the radiator and also sediment from the bottom can move to a new location and cause further blockage.Just pull off the lower coolant hose and thermostat and let the water run thru until clear. You may be due for a new radiator due to age and mileage.
