Assisted steering warning on dash and battery warning

Hi all, I have a diesel 1.8 my battery light come on when I was driving and when I got home I went to go out in my car about five hours Later and my car started, but a steering assisted fault appeared on my dash and my power steering would not work. The ABS amber light would appear on my dash when turning the steering wheel left or right. I got up this morning and my car would not start at all. I jump started it it started fine but still had faults their on dash. When I disconnected the jump start leads my car light was flashing and after a couple off off minutes my car went dead. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks.

The charging system has stopped keeping the battery charged. Any repair shop can test the system's performance in a matter of minutes. All the other systems you mentioned with warning lights turning on are controlled by computers, and computers do not work properly with low system voltage. The warning lights are telling you those systems have either shut down or cannot be expected to function properly.

Thank you for your reply I put my battery on charge over night and put it back in my car this morning started fine no faults on dash, but the battery light I have drove it to the garage and he tested the alternator and said that was my problem so I have ordered a new one so hopefully when he fits it the light goes for my battery. Thanks again.

Although the check lights are off now, the fault codes will still be there, probably
"U " communication codes often seen with battery problems, would be a good idea to get the codes cleared as well.

Okay thank you. I will get them to do that as well as it it is getting done in the morning just waiting for my alternator to be delivered.

Fixed now was just the alternator no more faults and battery light gone thanks guys
