Are all green coolents the same?

Are all 50/50 coolents the same? Alright to use PEAK green coolent for GM models 1998 and earlier for my chevy impala 2003?

No, they are definitely not the same. Your car needs a coolant that is silicate free like Dexcool. When you change it over you will have to thoroughly flush every bit of green coolant out.

But the dexcool was already flushed all the way out and mechanic used green coolant cause of some problems dexcool has. I topped off my resivore with green coolant but it's for models 1998 and earlier. Would that cause a check engine light?

It's the green that needs to be flushed out. Dexcool doesn't have problems. The issues come up when the cooling system is operated with air in the system. You need to flush it and put the Dexcool or equivalent back in.
