Engine shut off while driving and will not restart

Daughter was going to work the other day and car shut off. She put it in park to see if it would start back up and would not turn over just like a dead battery and would not come out of park. Had it towed and the driver had to crawl under the car and take it out of park. I have tried just about everything to try to reset the anti-theft system/pass-lock. I have used both keys and key-fobs that came with the vehicle and am very stumped now.

That doesn't sound like an anti-theft problem. Does anything electrical work?

I need you to check three fuses. In addition to checking the fuse condition, confirm there is power to them. Here is a link to help with that:

There is power going to 34 and 22 and not to 17.

Hi,

Fuse 17 is the crank fuse. It should have power when the key is in the start position. You will need a helper. Or, have you already checked it that way?

I want to thank you guys for the help. After doing what you guys have posted and nothing was working. I was doing some more checking and come to find out it was it was the ignition switch. It's weird how a part like the ignition switch can act so much like something else and be so much of a pain in the rear. Thanks again for the help.

Hi,

Are you sure the battery is charged? If the alternator wasn't charging, driving would drain the battery.

Do me a favor. Try this little test at home:
