Hello everyone at 2CarPros. I'm Jesse and I have an issue with the anti theft alarm system on my car. It keeps turning on whenever I reconnect the battery and whenever it feels like it, lol. It went off while I was test driving the car last night. The problem with is that it's not just a nuisance, but it activates the emergency lights every time it goes off. I was advised to replace the battery terminals which I did because the old ones wouldn't fit snug due to the stripped bolts. I need help with information on how to disable the alarm system or any other suggestions. Thank you.

Hello,

It sounds like the theft deterrent module is going out. But we should remove the electrical connector and check for corrosion before replacing it. Here is the location so you can check it out. If the module is bad a shop will need to program the new unit which should cost about $130.00. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Will do. Thank you. Is there a way to disable it for the time being? I can't remove the fuse because it also powers the brake lights and I can only disconnect the horn to silence it, but it still activates the hazard lights.

So I did a reset on the system. While the alarm is going off close everything trunk, hood, doors windows up etc. Lock the car with the key (turn key to the right twice) leave it for 15-20 minutes and then unlock the car after. My alarm hasn't gone off for 3 days, but it does go off when I unplug negative terminal and plug it back in. I've left the battery on and it hasn't gone off. Hopefully this helps anyone with the same issue.
