So, my girlfriend and I bought the car listed above and learned that the security system ignition was bypassed using a 5-prong relay and this chip like key, will include photos, the car was running. I turned it off and when we went to leave a few hours later the car wouldn't start. We tried a battery charger but that didn't work so we went AutoZone for a charge and found that our battery was no good, so we got a new one and still nothing but a single click when turned over. My girlfriend found where the 5-prong relay was located and started to mess with it. Needless to say, the relay was unplugged and I have no idea of the order it was plugged in.

Hi,

I'm not sure what was done with the relay installation. That is going to be a tough one because it isn't a typical repair.

As far as the click, is the noise coming from the starter motor? If it is, are the battery terminals clean and tight, free of corrosion? Also, if the starter is making the noise, there is a chance it may have failed.

If it is the starter making noise, I recommend removing it and having it bench-tested at a parts store. I attached the vague directions from the manual for removing it. See pic 1 below. Here is a link that explains in general how to replace one. Although it isn't specific to this vehicle, it is more descriptive and provides pics to help.

Additionally, here is a link that explains how to check a starter on the vehicle:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
